Inspirational Stories of Hope from our Readers at Cancer Care News
This page was originally published January 13, 2018 and updated January 23, 2024.

We are so grateful to our readers and find inspiration every day in the emails we receive. Personal stories connect us all and give us strength knowing we are not alone in our journey. Now, we want to give you an opportunity to share your story with other readers on Cancer Care News to encourage, empower and offer hope.

As Lidia Schapira, MD, FASCO, Editor of Cancer.net writes, “Peer support can help patients and family caregivers feel supported by a community or navigate the complex process of managing a life-altering illness such as cancer. Knowing that others have had similar experiences and that they can help may make all the difference in how someone lives through the challenge of cancer. People with peer support can learn how to communicate better with the health care team because of the experience of others. This can lead to better preparation for cancer treatment and empowerment to ask more questions.”

We welcome stories from people who’ve been diagnosed with any cancer, their family members, friends, and caregivers. Your experiences matter and can make a profoundly positive impact on someone else struggling with the same issues. Cancer is hard on everyone. We’re here to make the journey a bit easier and would love for you to share what you’ve learned with others.

Here are a few of the ideas on topics we’re looking for:

  • How you overcame a challenge or fear
  • What you learned about yourself or someone else
  • How others helped you
  • How a cancer diagnosis changed your life

Please introduce yourself to us here at editors@CancerCareNews.com and we will be in touch soon. We look forward to hearing from you!

  1. Can we post on behalf of a loved one or do only personal stories count? A childhood friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer at just the age of 15, and I have seen her lose her hair. Today she is a strong, independent woman who supports her single mom!

  2. I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer in March of 2020 I had surgery on May 6th 2020. I know there’s other people out there with cancer I just didn’t know how to go about dealing with it handling it with the love and support of my family and friends they help me stay positive to get me through the cancer now I am looking for assistance with cash and some other supplies that’s needed doing this pandemic
